About Brent

As a counsellor registered through the BACP and the ACC (UK) I provide a private and independent service. I offer competitive rates and work in line with current trends in the field. Fees are determined according to an income related sliding scale.

I offer a welcoming, non-judgmental, authentic and safe presence. My areas of specialism are working with young people, adults and couples suffering from stress, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship problems and addiction issues. I am skilled in working with a variety of different methods and aim to have a flexible and integrative approach, following what works best for you, and offering a range of ways in which you might grow. I utilise Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person centered and psychodynamic approaches. I also offer mindfulness exercises.

I keep a fresh approach to my work by undertaking regular ongoing professional development including supervision, personal therapy, workshops and training courses. I always work within the latest ethical frameworks of both UKCP and BACP. I am subject to their standard complaints procedures.

I work in two places in London; an independent private practice in The City of London and South London and in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire.

I currently lecture and supervise students on the MSc Psychology, Addiction and Counselling Course at London South Bank University.

Services

Individual Therapy

Our first session together is an assessment, where we will decide if we feel we can work together. Should this be agreed then an initial contract of sessions would be offered. The sixth session would include a review to see whether further sessions are required.

Couples Therapy

I work with couples at every stage of their relationship. My couples work embraces all kinds of relationships and stages — from new couples all the way through to divorce counselling with the focus on an amicable and peaceful separation as possible.

Group Therapy

I am very experienced in running group therapy sessions and am able to incorporate workshop style and CBT elements to the group dynamic process.

Mindfulness

Training and guided meditation for individuals and groups, specifically focused on managing anxiety and depression through mindfulness practice.

Counsellor Supervision

Expert clinical supervision for counselling teams and Master's students on placement. Drawing on over twenty years of practice and university teaching experience.

Fees & Sliding Scale

I use an income-related sliding scale to ensure my services are affordable for as many people as possible.

The sliding scale means that your session fee is based on your household income. This allows me to offer lower rates to those who need them, while maintaining a sustainable practice. There is no judgement attached to where you fall on the scale — everyone receives the same quality of care.

Common Questions

How does the sliding scale work?

When you get in touch, I'll send you my rates document which outlines fee bands based on annual household income. You choose the band that fits your situation — no proof of income is required.

Is the initial assessment free?

The initial assessment session is a chance for us both to see if we're the right fit. Please get in touch to discuss the details.

How do I find out the rates?

Simply email me at brentjonclark@gmail.com or call 07305 957902 and I'll send you the sliding scale document straight away.

Do you offer concessions?

The sliding scale itself is designed to be the concession — it ensures that therapy is accessible regardless of financial circumstances.
